
AESI Annual Conference
University College Cork 15th and 16th June 2023
The AESI Annual Conference will take place at 1 Lapp’s Quay, University College Cork on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th June 2023.

Papers presented at the conference relate to the economics of agriculture and food, the bioeconomy, food choice, natural resources and rural development. Presentations (including discussion) will last 30 min per presenter.
Society membership and conference attendance (including light lunch on both days): Ordinary members – €70. Students & retired individuals – €60.
An optional conference dinner will take place on the 15th at The Bodega, 44-45 Cornmarket St, Centre, Cork, T12 W27H. The costs of the dinner is €35 in addition to the conference fees and are to be paid when registering for the conference.

Conference highlights:
- Keynote speaker Dr Edward Lahiff (UCC). His presentation is titled ‘ Global Food Security: Some challenges for Irish-based researchers.’
- Panel session on “Informing public policy through research” with Dr Karl Walsh (DAFM), Rowena Dwyer (IGEES) and Prof Thia Hennessy (UCC).
- Presidential address by Dr Fiona Thorne (Teagasc) on “The multi-dimensional concept of competitiveness in agriculture”
