AESI Conference 2016
National Botanic Gardens, Dublin January 7th
The AESI will host its Annual Conference, at the National Botanic Gardens in Dublin on January 7th. The conference will include a Presidential Address by Dr. Thia Hennessy of Teagasc and a Plenary Session on Profitability in the Beef Sector.
2013
AESI Student Day November 7th 2013
The Agricultural Economics Society of Ireland held its annual student day on November 7th at the Teagasc, Ashtown, Dublin.
Pictured: Michele McCormack, Bob O’Connor Prize winner 2013 with Dr. Mary Keeney (Central Bank of Ireland) and Paul Kelly (formerly Rural Economy, Teagasc) who acted as judges on the day.
Michele’s presentation was entitled “Policy Incentives as Behavioural Drivers of Beef Enterprises in Ireland: Where are the Kinks?”
Her supervisors are Cathal O’Donoghue (Rural Economy Development Programme,Teagasc), Stephen Hynes (National University of Ireland, Galway) and Peter Howley (University of York).
The winner of the prize for early stage research was Michael Corcoran, his presentation was entitled “Responding to Change: medieval and early modern agricultural systems and landscapes in Ireland, c.1100 – 1800AD.”
His supervisors are Stuart Green (Rural Economy Development Programme,Teagasc) and Prof. Tadhg O’Keeffe & Dr. Stephen Davis, School of Archaeology, UCD.

AESI Student Day October 19th 2012
The Agricultural Economics Society of Ireland held its annual student day on October 19th at the RDS, Dublin.
Congratulations to John Walsh (University of Bangor) who was the winner of the 2012 Bob O'Connor prize.
Congratulations also to John Hyland (University of Bangor) who won the 2012 prize for the best First year student.

AESI Student Day Nov 25th 2011
The Agricultural Economics Society of Ireland held its annual student day on November 25th at the Teagasc Ashtown Research Centre, Dublin.
Congratulations to Paul Naughton and Christina Ryan who were the joint winners of the 2011 Bob O'Connor prize.
Congratulations also to Jessica McKillop and Beste Yildiz who jointly won the prize for the best First year student.

The Agricultural Economics Society of Ireland held its annual student day on October 15th at the Teagasc Ashtown Research Centre, Dublin.
Congratulations to Erin Minihan who was the winners of the 2010 Bob O'Connor prize.
2009
AESI Student Day November 5th 2009
The Agricultural Economics Society of Ireland held its annual student day on November 5th at the Rural Economy Research Centre Teagasc with presentations from 17 students at various stages of their PhD studies.
The Bob O'Connor prize was awarded to Edel Doherty of NUIG for her work using discrete choice experiments to elicit preferences for walking trails on farmland in Ireland. The first year prize went to David Loughran of RERC/UCD for his work on the Economics of GM Potato Crop Production.
AESI Seminar October 29th 2009
The Society held a seminar on the impact of the recession on agriculture in Ireland and Northern Ireland with presentations from Alan Matthews (TCD), Michael Wallace (UCD), Claire Jack and Joan Moss (AFBI) and Liam Connolly Teagasc.
